Never in a month of Sundays will I accept "Unlimited" data plans that sneak in Fair Use caps (buried in the fine print or clearly stated upfront, although they never state those things upfront, do they?) as truly Unlimited.

That's it. That's the post.

P.S. How do they even get away with this? An "Unlimited" data plan with... say, a 600GB Fair Use cap is, simply put, a 600GB plan. End of.

P.P.S. "But 600GB is loads! I barely scratch the surface most months, and even in a heavy-usage month, I don’t come close!" Smashing. It's still a 600GB plan that was sold to you as Unlimited, no?

Some (https://techxplore.com/news/2025-03-amazon-privacy-feature-echo-users.html) are quick to write it off, deliberately or not, as a “little-used” feature.

Others (https://www.inc.com/jason-aten/amazon-is-killing-its-most-important-privacy-option-it-all-starts-this-month/91162695) reckon it was anything but insignificant. Count yours truly in with that "other" lot please, this privacy safeguard was rather significant in my books.

But whichever way you slice it, the key word here is "was", because like it or lump it, opting out of sending your Alexa recordings to Amazon is now off the table.

There’s absolutely no point in exposing one’s hypocrisy to the hypocrite themselves. They are fully aware that they are hypocrites, thank you very much. They enjoy being hypocrites and revel in the what-are-you-gonna-do-about-it feeling that comes with it. They absolutely soak up the energy from your aha moments and gotchas, from your efforts to connect the dots and highlight logical inconsistencies.

The only reason to expose a hypocrite is for the benefit of a third-party audience; otherwise, you’re simply wasting your precious time.
