Mutter Bundle #33: 21 Quid Is Not a Prank
04 Mar 2026 06:45
There must be a special spot in purgatory for those workplace pranksters who go as far as to blur the divide between mischievous exaggeration and (calculated or not) deception. A kinda grotesque, thus transparent (even if faintly) porky with a somewhat obvious escape hatch is one thing, it carries its own undo button. Delivering falsehoods that lack that evident retreat indicator is another. It risks eroding trust so thoroughly that the victim might forever doubt everything they are told, even the truly important, crucial, vital stuff.

Out of nowhere, Vodafone dropped £21 into my bank account this morning. I wrote to them and said as much. Fair is fair, I'd expect them to play straight if it were the other way around.

Full UK banking licence for Revolut. Great stuff. Exciting stuff.

But.
For me, it stays in its "supplemental" box. Being used for foreign travel, the occasional small transaction here and there, and as a handler of my recurring subscriptions.
As of now, still wouldn't consider landing my salary there.

Wow. 150,000 customers in under three years. Fair play, spusu, fair play.

My giffgaff community post on whether 5GB of roaming data really cuts it:
I think 5GB is really only good for pretty bare-bones usage, unless you're away for give or take a couple of days.
Just got back from 5 days in Italy and easily burned through around 7–8GB, and I didn't think I was going particularly mad with it. Stuff like Google Maps, a video call here and there, some YouTube vids or music on the train or bus.
Now, I know I could've been smarter about it, right? Saving video calls for WiFi, downloading maps and stuff for offline use beforehand, etc.
But.
The whole point was to just use my phone comfortably without having to think about it. And for my version of "comfortably," 5GB for 5 days just didn't cut it, and it certainly wouldn't for longer trips.
