Secure people don't care what others believe secure people should do. That's the whole point of being secure.

There's something equally sad and funny about people who announce the end of the relationship and then take offence when you simply accept it.
“You wouldn’t even fight for me… for us?” they ask.
I mean… with whom? Fight with whom, exactly?

Most of the time, when people ask for forgiveness, they don't ask for forgiveness.
They say "forgive me", "I'm sorry", or whatever speech they manage to assemble, as if their words are meant to work as a reset button, or as cheat codes in a computer game. "Forgive me" and, boom, the scene just jumps back to the second before they did the damage to the person they are supposedly asking for forgiveness, doesn't it?
And they aren't even asking, that's the thing. They are demanding. Not directly. Well, most of the time not directly. The demand often comes through the tone, the body language, the irritation, the expectation.
"I said sorry. What the hell else do you want, you emotionally dense swine, you?" lingers in the air even if not said loudly.
But how many people, after causing harm, have actually said something along the lines of:
"I realise the gravity of what I have done. I would like you to forgive me, but first and foremost, I want to devote myself to repairing the damage I caused. And if that damage cannot be undone, I want to spend the rest of my life doing whatever I possibly can to help heal the wound I left behind."
How many?
Thought so.
